Penstemon digitalis seedlings ex. 'Dakota Burgundy' - 9cm pot
Another beautiful Penstemon digitalis variety - you'll have to search this one up on the internet as I have only acquired seed this year. I can't guarantee that all of the seedlings will look like the parent plant (that's half the fun of seed raising), but so far the foliage is a lovely deep burgundy with hints of dark green. Dakota Burgundy has lavender-violet flowers, so I'm looking forward to seeing how these beauties glow this summer!
Penstemon digitalis (and its various cultivars like this one) has proved to be a fabulous long-lived and beautiful companion to many other perennials and grasses in my garden over the past few years. Clumps of long dark green leaves which darken to deep ruby red shades at various times throughout the year. Tall branched spikes bear panicles of lavender, violet or white flowers in spring and summer, which the bees love. Full sun or part shade. 50-60cm x 30cm. 9cm pot. Drought tolerant once established - they will handle drier conditions quite well so don't be tempted to over water in summer.
