A beautiful evergreen, small shrubby perennial that comes from the more tropical areas of Mexico. With a slow, slightly creeping habit, small stature, glossy dark green leaves and bright red flowers this is a fantastic plant for brightening up a dull corner. I find it loses a lot of its leaves in cold frosty spots but remains reasonably evergreen in shelter near the house. Will handle light shade, appreciates a mulch in early summer if grown in a hotter sunny spot. Flowering height around 50cm for me. 1 litre pot.
