These are seed-grown plants of the original strain of the compact non-trailing, deep scarlet, dark-leaved 'Empress of India' which I have had for many years. I keep the strain true by pulling out any seedlings with green leaves that occasionally pop up, just keeping the dark leaf forms. They make a wonderful companion for other plants or for tumbling over or around pots. They're also delicious used in salads - the leaves add a peppery flavour and the flowers are gorgeous and bright. 9cm pot.
