Angelica gigas - 9cm pot
A fabulous feature plant, this stately short-lived perennial is best treated as a biennial as it will die after flowering (which usually occurs in its 2nd year). Large divided fresh green leaves unfurl in spring and once the plant is big enough the ball-shaped burgundy buds slowly develop until the rounded umbels burst out. They are the most extraordinary dark but vibrant beetroot colour and really stand out. Bees and other essential pollinators go made over them too! These are young plants which are best tucked into their final positions now so their root systems can get established over winter. I would expect these to flower in the spring/summer of 2027. They enjoy a moisture retentive soil and will happily self sow after flowering, so if you always let one seedhead ripen then over time you will have your own succession of seedlings and therefore flowers every year. Flowering height to around 150cm. 9cm pot.
