Amsonia tabernaemontana - 9cm pot
(Blue star). A plant that plays the long-game...and then turns into an absolute star! (please see important notes at the end below).
Slowly forms a clump of fairly upright stems clothed in willow-like leaves, each topped in spring with clusters of gorgeous blue starry flowers. The foliage turns shades of bronzed copper and yellow in the autumn. Full sun to part shade. Eventually gets to around 60-90cm high and wide after a few years. Completely winter dormant. 9cm pot.
Note: these plants usually take 2 years to get to saleable size and I would expect a few will flower this coming summer, but not necessarily all of them. They are wonderful, hardy and incredibly long-lived plants - plant them and leave them be and they will surprise you each spring when they suddenly appear. For reference the plants in the photos are 4-5 years old, and as these are seedlings please expect some variation in leaf width and flower colour (pale ice blue to sky blue).
