Symphyotrichum (Aster) 'Kylie'
(Symphyotrichum novae-angliae). This is a gorgeous small-flowered hybrid between two Aster species which I have had in my collection for a few years now, and I always look forward to seeing her in flower again. Quite late in the season, about Mar-Apr, the flower stems rise up and are absolutely smothered with little daisies in a really lovely shade of soft rose-pink, with a little dark centre. For the rest of the year, ground-level unassuming clumps of grey-green foliage gradually expand and can be divided after about every third year. Loved by bees and butterflies. Full sun is best although part shade is okay too, the plant will just be a bit leggier. Height at flowering 70-90cm, allow 40-50cm spread. 1 litre pot.
