Salvia forsskaolii (indigo woodland sage)
This is a tough and hardy perennial ideal for light to medium shady spots, although it will handle a half day of sun with ease. Large basal clumps of softly hairy green leaves and plentiful well-branched spikes of medium-sized purplish-blue flowers with a white mark on the lip from spring through summer, frequently re-blooming for me again into autumn as well. Loved by the bees and not too fussy about soils types, although doesn’t like wet feet. Self sows a little. Great for dry shade areas! Flowering height 70-80cm, width 40-50cm. 9cm pot.
