(syn. Oxypetalum caeruleum). The sought-after blue flowered form of this gorgeous perennial which has a semi-upright slightly scrambling form, making it great for planting amongst other similar-sized plants where its soft downy stems and greyish heart-shaped leaves can meander about. (It can also be trained as a climber). The sprays of flowers are the most gorgeous clear sky-blue and last particularly well, making them ideal for cutting. Commonly known as blue milkweed the stems contain a white sap, like swan plants, and must be seared before using in flower arrangements. The seedpods are also highly attractive when opening (see photo). RHS Award of Garden Merit. Hardy to light-medium frosts with good drainage. Enjoys full sun to part shade. 9cm pot.
