White wood Aster is a hardy herbaceous perennial of which I have two distinct forms. This one has dark green, heart-shaped triangular leaves which take on slightly purple hues when young, plus contrasting almost black stems. A mounding, bushy, woodland plant which produces cloud-like panicles of starry white, lightly fragrant flowers in mid-late summer. The tiny flower centres start off yellow then change to a dark berry as they are pollinated. Ideal for sun, shade or part shade and will adapt to most soils, including dry areas. This one has a slightly more creeping form. Mature size at flowering 40-70cm high and wide. 9cm pot.
