Salvia discolor - 1 litre pot
Andean sage is a fabulous and amazing plant in every way...exquisite olive-green and silver foliage creates a beautiful contrast with the long arching flower stems, which feature elegantly draped whorls of almost black flowers peeking out of the large silvery green calyces. A mature plant is eye-catching to say the least. It will grow in full sun with good soil, but I find it prefers a little shade in the afternoon. Tends to have an arching habit so can make an impressive subject for a large tall pot. Size at flowering 50-80cm high and wide depending on conditions. Drought tolerant - heat makes the stems stiffer. Hardy to medium frosts but heavy frost will kill it if not mulched well. 1 litre pot.
