(One potful - dying down now). If you're looking for something big, bold and beautiful for spring, plus easy to grow, then this might be just the thing! Another species hybrid that I had correctly identified and named by an overseas expert, as it has been sold under various names in NZ, including as the species G. cardinalis (which it isn't). Produces stunning large, widely-open flowers in vibrant scarlet with a white streak on the lower 3 tepals, each one surrounded by a splash of hot pink which blends into deep red. Starts flowering in early September for me. Can be grown in a large pot or in the garden, full sun and good drainage. Approx 4 bulbs per pot, just coming into leaf now.
