A rarely available and very choice species native of Bhutan and Yunnan, with beautiful foliage. The rounded or orbicular leaves are apple-green but with a covering of soft downy hairs, and the edges having slightly squared-off lobes, creating a very distinctive shape. Thin upright stems carrying lovely star-shaped rose-pink flowers with dark crimson near the centre should appear later in spring or early summer. Best in shade with moisture retentive soil, such as you would find along forest edges, but so far is appearing quite at home here in a shady spot near the hedge. Hardy to around minus 8 degrees apparently (I'm not game to test it as I'm not that hardy!). 1 litre pot. (photo is of the actual plants currently available).
