A species that is a little different to the more commonly seen annual and perennial types, this hardy beauty is a woody-based evergreen shrubby perennial that thrives in hot dry conditions, making it perfect for water-wise gardens. It stays in full leaf all winter, even in the frost here, and then sends up wave after wave of charming lilac-blue flowers which morph into gorgeously tactile spheres of seedheads, perfect for adding interest to the garden and also great for dry arrangements. A light trim after flowering will keep it in shape, but maybe wait until some seed has ripened - they will need winter chilling to germinate again the following spring. Size at maturity around 50cm x 40cm. Full sun, free draining soil. 9cm pot.
