Welcome to Seaflowers Nursery!  If you are looking for a unique online shopping experience for rare and unusual perennials then you've come to the right place. Top quality plants are carefully packaged and sent all over New Zealand from my nursery based near Takaka, in beautiful Golden Bay.

After around 30 years of growing all sorts of different plants I established my nursery in 2014 with the idea of sharing my special plants and knowledge with other gardeners and plantspeople. The plants I grow are mostly perennials, with an emphasis on rare and unusual or hard-to-find species and cultivars. I also grow a lot of plants that provide food and habitats for beneficial pollinators and other wildlife.
Salvias are a favourite of mine - with so many to choose from there is one for almost every spot in the garden. I have a large collection which I am always adding to.  In mid-late summer each year I also sell a variety of special bulbs, with an additional smaller offering in mid-winter. Many of these bulbs are collectors items and they sell out incredibly fast. 

My plants are grown from seed, cuttings, or by division, and are sent to you well-grown and ready to put in the garden. Potted plants are sent by courier, snugly packed in their cartons all over New Zealand. Pot sizes are listed on each variety on my online shop (see the Perennials page). I use pots made from recycled plastics, and mainly newsprint for packaging, although each carton is lined with a single sheet of bubble wrap (made from recycled plastics where possible) to protect the carton from moisture from the plants. Please reuse the packaging if possible!  Also, please note that the nursery is mail order only and not open to the public sorry.
