Hardy biennial with large shiny basal leaves and many tall, hairy spikes covered in small flowers in an unusual shade of grey-mauve-blue, with brown centres. Will die after flowering but readily self sows. A striking plant for the back of the border, prefers full sun and excellent drainage. Height to 1.5m.

Papaver dubium ssp. lecoquii var. albiflorum What an amazing name! A Beth Chatto original, now commonly known as The Great Dixter Poppy. Small, single pink flowers float about on tall stems from spring into summer. Great for filling empty spaces between more permanent plants. Annual, allow to self-sow. Stems to 50cm. Full sun.
