Salvia 'Costa Rica Blue'
A big, bushy, upright shrub with tropical looking softly-furry leaves and stunning stems of large violet-blue flowers with very dark, almost black bracts. Fast growing and long autumn flowering. Slightly frost tender, does best in part shade especially in hot areas. Prune by at least half in spring after frosts have passed to maintain shape (and will respond well to hard pruning if it gets woody). A well drained but moisture retentive soil is best, with compost as mulch. Flowering size 1.5-2m high x 1m wide. 1 litre pot.
