(Cutleaf coneflower). A tall and vigorous plant, ideal for the back of a border, or wild garden where it can provide a glorious splash of colour, nectar for the insects, and nourishing seedheads for the goldfinches. Large, deeply cut, dark green leaves, and strong upright stems of beautiful bright lemon yellow coneflowers, with drooping ray florets and yellow-green cones. This form, 'Herbstsonne', has wider petals than the species. Best in moisture-retentive soils, and dislikes extremely hot and dry sites. Mine flower from February right through until late autumn. Flowering height at maturity 1.5-2m x 40-70cm wide clump. 9cm pot.
