A very striking large shrubby perennial with softly hairy mid green leaves which are mottled and edged with gold, particularly in summer. Clusters of relatively large flowers in a stunning shade of cobalt blue appear from mid-late summer, lasting well into autumn. Prefers a moisture retentive soil with plenty of compost or leaf mould, and shade in the afternoon. Can be sensitive to hard frosts. I find it best grown near other larger shrubs or trees where it can be protected from the frost and afternoon heat. 1.5m x 1m. 1 litre pot.
