Salvia elegans 'Sonoran Red'
A low-growing, bushy form of this striking perennial. The foliage doesn’t smell like pineapples to me, but it is scented. Forms a clump of pointed oval leaves, soft to touch and tinted with purple at times. From mid-summer to autumn it smothers itself in fire-engine-red flowers, which the bees love. Prefers full sun but water retentive soils, with a good soaking every now and then in the heat of the summer. Perennails, hardy to light frost only. 60cm high x 60-80cm wide. 1 litre pot.
