Salvia viscosa - 9cm pot
This is a lovely plant ideal for creating soft contrasts amongst other perennials, particularly those with lime green or white flowers or foliage, and it looks fabulous with grasses. Clumps of softly hairy, rounded mid-green leaves, with slightly wavy edges make an attractive feature on their own. Upright, branched stems carry many whorls of small deep burgundy flowers in mid-summer, creating an airy cloud of dark pink. On close inspection you can see that the lower petals are much paler in colour and streaked with darker burgundy. Self sows a little. Full sun or part shade, but will do best in a sunny spot with good drainage. 60-80cm x 40cm. 9cm pot.
