Heuchera villosa 'Autumn Bride' - 9cm pot
This is a beautiful species with clumps of scalloped leaves that are soft to touch and have a lovely lime-green tinge to them, perfect for adding a light texture to shady areas. The flower stems emerge in a similar soft lime then age to creamy white - the spent stems remain for a while and look lovely in dappled shade where they pick up beams of sunlight. Most Heuchera flower in spring or early summer, but this one seems to have a mind of its own, flowering off and on for me half the summer before creating a spectacular late summer display. The foliage is perfect for complimenting early flowering perennials or bulbs in spring, or for pairing with other foliage plants near trees where the frothy white flower spikes can add a nice contrast. I've found it can grow in full sun (with summer water) but will do best in light dappled shade and is generally easy care and fuss free. Foliage 40cm x 40cm, flower spikes 70-90cm tall. 9cm pot.
