Euphorbia mellifera - 9cm pot
(Canary spurge; honey spurge). A useful and attractive texture plant from the Canary Islands which forms an evergreen rounded shrub, ideal for waterwise gardens. Fairly narrow fresh mid-green, waxy leaves, each with a contrasting creamy coloured midrib, and in spring heads of honey-scented warm brick-red coloured flowers. As with all Euphorbias the milky sap is an irritant and gloves should always be worn when handling or pruning. Full sun to part shade, good drainage. Mature size around 1.5-1.8m (height and width), although it can easily be kept lower than that if pruned occasionally. 9cm pot.
