Salvia mexicana 'Lolita' - 1 litre pot
A fantastic plant which I now grow instead of ‘Limelight’, ‘Lolita’ has proven to be a much better garden subject, forming a more rounded, bushy shrub that stands up to the weather far better but still provides that stunning contrast of purple and lime green in the flowers. Flowering begins in mid summer (earlier than Limelight) and continues until late autumn for me. Will tolerate light frost and is best left unpruned until spring, when you can prune it back to new growth just above the base (it will also shoot from the base at this point). Hard pruning in autumn or winter may kill the plant entirely, particularly in frost prone areas. Full sun to part shade with compost-rich soil, A mature plant will reach around 1.2-1.7m high at flowering depending on aspect and soil type in your garden, x 1m wide. 1 litre pot. Usually only available once or twice per year.
