Lunaria annua 'Chedglow' purple honesty - 9cm pot
I grew this incredibly special plant for the first time in 2018 and it took a full 18 months to come up to flower, but in the meantime I had this truly fabulous foliage to look at. Clumps of darkest purple heart-shaped leaves, frequently blotched with green especially when young. The plants are slow growing above ground while they form big root systems. When it eventually flowers the leafy stems rise up and bear lots of dark magenta flowers, and the stems and seedpods are also a wonderful deep purple. (leave the seedpods on if you want fresh seed). Prefers a spot where it gets only a half day of sun, or light dappled shade, although the purple will be more striking if it gets some sun. 30-40cm without flowers, flowering height to 1m. 9cm pot.
