Symphyotrichum (Aster) cordifolius 'Silver Spray'
Who would think that from such an unassuming clump of green leaves would rise such spectacular clouds of flowers?! That is exactly what happens with this beauty. The flower stems begin to appear in mid-late summer and by about April they are like large silvery-lilac clouds, made up of hundreds of tiny flowers. Cut each main stem back to ground level when the flowers finish as sometimes this encourages further smaller stems to flower again. Height at flowering 1-1.2m, allow 40cm for width. 9cm pot.
