Rudbeckia occidentalis 'Green Wizard'
A fantastic plant that will both blend in and create some drama...the flowerheads are made up of a large dark brown, almost black cone, surrounded at the base by contrasting green sepals. The cones create a striking effect held on upright stems, and remind me of a larger version of Sanguisorba officinalis when used in the garden. Unlike its bright and colourful sun-loving cousins, this Rudbeckia makes a fantastic feature plant in an architectural way and will happily grow in moisture-retentive soils in full sun but enjoys shadier spots as well, particularly in hot areas. Ideal for cut flower use fresh or dried, and lush clumps of soft green leaves complete the picture. Size at flowering - 80-150cm high x 40-60cm wide. 9cm pot.
