Hairy Delphinium. A rarely seen Himalayan beauty with softly hairy rounded leaves which almost remind me of an Alchemilla. I haven't grown this one to flowering size before (my 2nd year plants are coming up and will flwoer this year) so I've yet to test it in the garden, but so far the slugs and snails don't seem very interested at all...which is definitely in its favour! Stems of slightly hooded, dusky violet-blue flowers, each with an inky black centre appear in summer. A hardy, winter-dormant perennial, it should enjoy a partly shaded position with good soil but also good drainage. Height with flowers 40-50cm. 9cm pot.
