Heliopsis 'Bleeding Hearts' - 9cm pot
(Heliopsis helianthoides var. scabra). False Sunflower. Clumps of upright purple stems and dark-tinted foliage, and glowing jewels of flowers in deep orange-red make a fabulous display in mid-late summer. The 5-7cm flowers are held on sturdy stems and make excellent cut flowers, lasting well in a vase. Takes a couple of years to establish to a mature size but blooms over a long period in summer. Isn't particularly fussy over soil conditions, but best flowering will be in a sunny spot and good drainage is important so they aren't sitting in wet soils over winter. These hardy perennials are tough individuals that will withstand cold temperatures, retreating well underground during winter and reappearing in spring. Flowering size at maturity 70-100cm x 40-50cm wide. 9cm pot.
