Athyrium niponicum 'Ursula's Red' - 1.1 litre pot
Athyrium niponicum 'Ursula's Red', also known as Japanese Painted Fern is a stunning variety with silver green fronds, each one infused with burgundy along the middle. The dark red stems add to the gorgeous colours which look metallic in certain lights. Deciduous and dormant in winter, this unusual beauty enjoys light or part shade and good soil with compost added.
I grow mine in a large pot where it gets a couple of hours of sunshine in the morning then shade for the rest of the day (the larger plant as pictured). Too little light and the colours will be dull. 1.1 litre plant as per other two photos.
