I was given some seedlings which I have now identified as Lepechinia hastata (or aka L. salviae), the very beautiful Mexican pitcher sage. These will form large bushy plants with big, aromatic, arrow-shaped leaves, green a silver sheen. In mid-late summer many upright stems appear, clothed in long-tubed flared flowers in gorgeous deep magenta-purple. Ideal for sunny spots with good drainage, does best in average garden soil. Perfect for drought prone or water-wise gardens, just water occasionally until they're established. Mature flowering size 1.4-1.6m high x 1m wide, cut back stems to ground level after flowering. 1 litre pot.
