Also known as Rocky Mountain blazing star, this is fabulous, and suitable for both the perennial garden border as well as more natural plantings or meadows. Highly attractive to both humans and pollinators, with upright spikes of many fluffy purple flowers over a long period in summer. Monarch butterflies love them! Flowering height 50-120cm depending on soil and available moisture - in rich soils with regular watering they will be taller but have softer stems, so staking would be necessary. In drier, leaner soils they will not need staking and will be slightly shorter. They cope admirably with drought conditions once established. Hardy perennial and winter dormant. 1 litre pot.
