Silky Phacelia. Rarely available in NZ this tough little perennial from California, Colorado and other areas of western North America loves rocky dry spots and is ideal for a rock garden situation. Low clumps of gorgeous silvery green foliage, silky hairy to touch and fern-like in their appearance. Short, stout stems of stunning deep purplish-blue flowers appear in summer, the individual flowers crowded along the stems, with exserted stamens, resembling little blue bottle brushes. Can be very long lived in the right spot, sprouting each year from a woody rootstock. Flowering height 20-30cm. 9cm pot
