Salvia involucrata 'Hadspen' - 1 litre pot
A glorious summer-winter flowering hardy herbaceous perennial shrub, this makes an excellent feature plant for the back of the border or amongst other shrubby species. Dark green leaves with a hint of grey on the upper surface and contrasting soft berry-coloured stems add contrast and texture. Throughout summer and into autumn spectacular spikes of large, tubular, pink flowers appear - this one keeps going into early winter here too. Long flowering and tough, coping well with anything from part shade to blazing hot sun, but will look it's best in light dappled shade or a half day of full sun. Flowering size 1m to 1.7m high depending on site x 80-100cm wide, it is quite a rounded shape for me. I trim mine back almost to ground level in spring once the frosts have passed and it comes away again from the base. 1 litre pot.
